The Menagerie Of Etiquette

To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering

                                                                                                               -Friedrich Nietzsche

Thinking of how we celebrated 2020 ; Hoping everything goes with perfect flow heading towards new upcoming beautiful days .The sudden change with all the pandemic things and sad news people are trying their best to overcome this situation. This current year 2020 has not been a good year literally, every month has so far been a black mirror episode on steroids one upping each month like a jealous sibling craving attention from his parents. From the US Assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleiamani via. Drone strike to the global COVID pandemic which has claimed around 8M individuals worldwide. The year hasn’t gone the way what people claimed for the new year resolutions. Unemployment is rising, racial injustice is up the wazoo. But is there any upside to all this?  Can people find meaning of life on this? Does anything even matter? Yes, and no.

To put it bluntly there is no inherent meaning to our lives. It is just a sea of random events until we croak and spend eternity in a box 6 feet under the ground. The earth will still spin, the sun will still shine, birds will still fly with or without us. In the grand timeline of the universe human beings will be seen as nothing but a blip. So whatever we do, whatever adversities we face everyday amounts literally nothing in the grand scheme of things. Every single second 1.8 humans die and 4.2 are born so everyone can rest assured that no one is special. So what are we up to? Should we stop doing everything and just lay there knowing that whatever we do will be forgotten in some period of time?

To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist. When we realize that nothing matters, you are free and only the things important to you are highlighted. The world becomes a different place than that of yesterday. The goals which you truly want to achieve for yourself and only yourself becomes slightly un blurred. The world is full of unwanted distractions holding us back, pulling us in. Yes, it is easy to move with the flow of the river but un-expectedly standing up and trying to go against it creates beautiful ripples in the flow, only for you, for no one else, no one to prove anything to, not for your neighbors, not for your friends not even for your mother nor your father. There is nothing to prove, you are the judge and the jury for yourself everyone is in the same boat heading towards the same cliff. Some of us shake the boat while most of us row it how we have always been taught to row.
John-Paul Sartre had said “Everything has been figured out, except how to live. Maybe now because of this gloom and doom year people can finally realize the shackles placed on us by this so called modern society. Free by the rights given to us on paper but still shackled nonetheless by the expectations of the society norms.

Do we go back to the machine like livelihood dictated by our obligations or do we strive to be happy in this tiny unstable existence of ours?

So, Live life to yours craving and never ever look back, there is a reason to live for the future and a reason to walk out far from the past. Love till it hurts and laugh till you cry and when your life flashes before you, make it worthwhile. Be happy for what you have done, and be happy for what you have overcome, and most of all always be proud of what you have become.
Take chances, lift your own courage and held a hand to those who needs you. Don’t wait cause right now is the oldest you’ve ever been and the youngest you’ll ever be again.

  1. It’s something realistic and refreshing to read. 2020 just gave us the glimpse of our favorite sci-fi thriller. And it feels like all the chaos is just a trailer. And it’s the karma of human race. How they exploit the nature.
    Nicely written 👏

  2. Everything here makes so much sense …it connects deep to your heart ,plays around your mind and releases some sort of happy chemicals not just for the fact that it has been written beautifully but also for the much needed self realization that it gives 👍

  3. Very good entry! I totally agree, except to state that we are all in the same boat. It is not like that, the society that suffered a collapse in the postwar period, even today sociologists respond that they do not know where it is going and for how long. Therefore, the past is immutable and the future very uncertain. Living the present in harmony and peace, not only with ourselves, but also with others, will be the way to have those breezes of joy, leaving aside extreme consumerism that is useless. Perhaps, I believe because I am convinced that life here is just a train station and nothing ends with it. A cordial greeting.
